On saturday morning we packed the car full of presents and headed of to Rosy and the kids in Katlehong.
Katlehong is the second-largest township after Soweto. It lies 35 kilometres east of Johannesburg and has one of the highest population densities in Gauteng province. It is severely overcrowded and lacks basic services and amenities.
My friend K, has been the motor in this project and she has managed to raise R7000 for the orphanage. On top of that she has collected and bought over 50 books, a book shelf and pens and pencils. Least but not last, she wrapped ALL the books and put names on the presents.
It was the first time I went to see the kids – what an amazing day. After the hand out of the presents the silence fell and everybody went to the magic land of a good story.
K – You did it, you gave these kids smiles on their faces and lights in their eyes. Check out their web: Orphanage of Love
